First things first: your senior pictures are about YOU.
And while location options for your senior session should be carefully considered, we can get an amazing portrait at just about ANY location. Let me offer a few (10, to be exact) ideas for you to consider.
As a senior portrait photographer in Pekin, Illinois, I've spent years scouting out some beautiful and unique locations to capture a variety of looks for your senior pictures. Whether you want a rural setting or an urban vibe, or a combination of both, we can find some amazing spots right here in our own backyard.
Every senior portrait session includes your choice of up to 6 locations, and unlimited wardrobe changes. Here are a few of my favorite spots around the Pekin/Peoria area:
1. The Creek.
This spot is one of the favorite locations for all the seniors I photograph. No matter the season, this creek location never fails. Sometimes, during the summer months, the water is barely a trickle. And sometimes in the spring, it's like a roaring river of water racing through. And each year, it has a slightly different look, as Mother Nature's storms topple trees and move things around. But most every senior portrait session I schedule, includes this location.
2. The field.
If you love the feel of tall weeds and wildflowers, you'll want to visit this location. Whether it's summer or fall, there's unique beauty here.
3. The trail.
Local residents spend a lot of time walking and biking on this bike trail. I've found a couple of different spots along the trail that offer a beautiful canopy of trees, and even a wooden fence for some beautiful senior pictures.
4. Old abandoned buildings.
This unique location in the heart of Pekin at an old abandoned building offers beautiful white painted brick on one side, brown painted brick on the other side, iron stairs, and a real urban vibe, making it a perfect location, no matter the season.
5. The Old PCHS Pillars.
You don't have to be a PCHS graduating senior to appreciate the architectural beauty of the old Pekin Community High School pillars.
6. Wrought Iron Fence.
This gorgeous fence is perfect in any season, With the sidewalk nearby, and the blurred headlights of the traffic in the background, it makes an incredible backdrop for senior pictures in any season.
7. The Sidewalk.
This simple sidewalk provides a stunning location for senior pictures. A beautiful canopy of trees, the leading lines of a simple sidewalk, a small area of grass just next to the sidewalk, and the glowing lights of the city create a unique backdrop.
8. The Urban Downtown Alley.
The best part of this alley location is the huge variety of looks! Besides the cool urban vibe of the alley, with the sun setting behind you, there are two separate graffiti walls, exposed brick, a green cement wall, and an iron staircase. It's like six locations in one!
9, The Riverfront.
The Riverfront offers a wide variety of locations all in the same area. I try to time your session so that if we're going to the riverfront, we arrive just as the sun is setting. It's perfect for senior pictures!
10. Your happy place.
Whether you're an athlete, a musician, a future farmer, an outdoorsman, a volunteer firefighter, in the marching band, or even an avid reader, I want to capture YOU. What's YOUR happy place? The ball field? The local coffee shop? The library? I'm happy to help you find a location where we can capture your favorite sport, hobby or activity.
Let's create something special that's all about YOU.
It's my absolute joy to capture the authentic YOU in your senior pictures. Let's talk about YOU and what YOU envision for your senior pictures, and create a session that is a true reflection of who you are at this important time in your life.
Senior picture sessions are usually scheduled on Saturday or Sunday evenings, beginning about 2 hours before sunset (but if weekends don't work, I sometimes have weeknights available when the sun sets later). We'll plan and create a custom session that is a reflection of you, right now in your life, and your vision for your senior pictures. Then, I'll send you a custom, multi-page PDF Senior Session Client Itinerary - Itinerary and Wardrobe Selection that will walk you through every step of preparing for your senior session, along with sample images from each location to assist you in preparing your wardrobe. Your session will last about 90-120 minutes at up to 6 locations that you choose, and you can change your outfits as many times as you wish. Then, after your session, you'll get access to a custom online gallery where you can view 20-30 of the best, fully edited images from your session that you can choose from to purchase.
